Thinking Food Jobs, January 17, 2025
I continue to develop an appreciation of the wide range of organizations and initiatives that carry out meaningful work related to food. Here are four that I learned about this week:
The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, located in Boston, is opening a Therapeutic Food Pantry, with an initial focus on serving pediatric patients, one in five of whom face food insecurity at the time of their cancer diagnosis. They are hiring a Pantry Manager to spearhead this work.
The Southern Smoke Foundation is crisis relief organization for people in the food and beverage industry, offering both emergency relief funds and a no-cost mental health program for food and beverage workers. They are hiring a Development Manager to work on-site in their Houston office.
Orlando-based nonprofit Edible Education Experience, which operates the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Kitchen House & Culinary Garden, is hiring a Program Director to set the vision and successfully implement immersive, garden-to-kitchen experiences.
Solar Agricultural Services, based in West Wareham, MA, is hiring an Agrivoltaic Coordinator to liaise between farmers, solar developers, and engineering teams to integrate solar energy systems with agricultural operations.

The Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund’s fully funded summer internships are a particularly good opportunity to get a taste of the work of sustainable food systems, no experience required.
